If you have an existing computer with a B450 board, then update your BIOS, and install the CPU. If you are building a new computer, then you will need to either use an old Ryzen 1000-3000 CPU to update the BIOS, or you will need to get a board with USB BIOS Flashback. Hi guys! I'm planning on buying a r5 5600x and a b450m steel legend, and I'm just wondering does the b450m come out now with an updated bios? All the b550 boards in my country are really expensive, and I was told by this store online that the b450m steel legend supports the Ryzen 5000 series etc. Now I’m on AGESA 1.1.0.0 patch C and WHEA errors disappeared once again even with soc manually adjusted to 1.1 volts. So I'm building my first PC soon and I was looking over my parts list, a B550 Steel Legend ATX motherboard with a Ryzen 5 5600X and a 3070, I wanted to know if the Ryzen 5 5600X and the B550 Steel legend are compatible right out the box, or work well enough for me to do the instant flash for the Bios update. The MSI worked almost flawlessly out of the box. The Asrock is a gigantic pain in the ass. Even getting 4 gpus to work on the asrock took me a day of repeated reassembling that my fingers were sore by the time it had a semblance of being stable. 3 gpus works fine without issues but as soon as I put in the 4th card it behaved unexpectedly.
As stated in the webpage, my new CPU should work out of the box (current BIOS is 3.40, the motherboard came with that version), but still I'm wondering if it's recommended to update BIOS with this CPU now (2600) or wait to have the new one (3600XT) installed, because of the message in the BIOS update page.B450 series price will come down or already spiral down in anticipation of B550 series. But at current point of time, B450 will not be a wise decision as it lacks PCIE 4 support. Last year it was still OK to have B450 as there are no other affordable board to support PCIE 4. -i now have a prime X370-pro and it runs happily at 4,15GHz @1,375V. The B450M Steel legend looks nice, but as written it will throttle badly if you dont have enough airflow above the VRMs. It was a mix of the case and the cheap mobo (as written above).
I have the ASRock B450 Steel Legend with Ryzen 3700X pairing with Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB (2 X 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3600 MHz C18. However, I am not able to post to Windows or have a stable Windows whenever I set in the BIOS with 3600 MHz. I am only able to post to Windows or have a rock solid stable Windows session on 3200 MHz.
