All the while knowing the "general contractor" is skimming 10 to 20% off the top along the way. Gas over /gal can't be helping. There is a paper called The Parts Peddler from the east coast. Dedicated to roundy-round racing, I used to see guys come out with a neat gizmo every spring, run an add for the 'latest, greatest' and by fall same year, at least 1 other vendor had a lower priced copy or 'even MORE improved' version of same part/gizmo. Often I'll charge by the piece; ya' know the kind; there's just no way I can charge my full shop rate on some jobs so I just take my best guess on what the piece is worth and go from there. My shop rate, including CNC time, is per hour. Sometimes I charge that, sometimes I don't.
